GENERAL QUESTIONS

Q: What is UmahCare?

UmahCare is an online marketplace that connects families with trusted independent caregivers for child care, elder care, tutoring, housekeeping, pet care, and other caregiving services. Our platform is built on integrity, respect, and family-centered values.

Q: Is UmahCare an agency?

No. UmahCare is not a caregiving agency and does not employ caregivers. We simply provide a platform where families and independent caregivers can connect directly.

Q: Is UmahCare only for Muslims?

No. UmahCare welcomes everyone. While our platform is inspired by faith-conscious, family-centered values, caregivers and families of all backgrounds are welcome.

Q: How does UmahCare make money?

UmahCare charges caregivers a one-time registration fee and a monthly membership to keep their profiles active on the platform. Families can browse caregiver profiles and post care opportunities free of charge.

FOR FAMILIES

Q: Is it free for families?

Yes. Families can create an account, search for caregivers, and post care opportunities at no cost.

Q: How do I find a caregiver?

Visit the Find Care page, choose the type of care you need, and use filters to narrow your search by experience, availability, CPR certification, language, and more. You can then contact caregivers directly.

Q: Are background checks required?

Yes. Caregivers are required to submit a recent background check before their profile can be published. UmahCare reserves the right to determine whether a submitted background check meets our current requirements.

Please note: UmahCare reviews submitted background check documents but does not conduct or independently verify background checks. Families are encouraged to conduct interviews, contact references, and perform any additional screening they feel is appropriate before hiring.

Q: Does UmahCare recommend caregivers?

No. We do not recommend or endorse individual caregivers. Families are responsible for reviewing profiles, interviewing candidates, checking references, and deciding whom to hire.

Q: Does UmahCare charge a fee when I hire someone?

No. UmahCare does not collect commissions or process payments between families and caregivers. All hiring decisions, schedules, and payment arrangements are made directly between you and the caregiver.

Q: What if a caregiver cancels or stops responding?

Because caregivers operate independently, UmahCare cannot guarantee availability or continued communication. We encourage families to communicate expectations clearly before hiring.

Q: Is UmahCare responsible if something goes wrong?

No. UmahCare is a platform that connects families with independent caregivers. We are not responsible for services provided, hiring decisions, agreements, or disputes between users.

FOR CAREGIVERS

Q: How do I become a caregiver on UmahCare?

Q: Why do I pay a monthly membership?

The monthly membership helps support the ongoing operation of the platform, caregiver listings, customer support, website maintenance, and continued improvements.

Q: Can I cancel my membership?

Yes. You may cancel your membership at any time.

Please note that, due to the current functionality of our platform, cancellation may result in the immediate removal of your listing and access to member features. Your account will remain on file, and you may reactivate it by purchasing a new membership.

Q: Will I receive a refund if I cancel?

Generally, no.

Membership and registration fees are non-refundable. However, UmahCare may review refund requests on a case-by-case basis when appropriate. Submitting a cancellation request does not automatically entitle a user to a refund.

No. Caregivers using UmahCare are independent service providers. UmahCare does not employ caregivers, set schedules, negotiate pay, or supervise services provided to families.

Q: What happens after I apply?

We’ll review your application and background check. Once approved, your profile will be published and families may contact you directly.

Q: Can I update my profile later?

Yes. You may update your profile at any time to reflect changes in your experience, availability, services, or contact information.

Q: Can my listing be removed?
